Wild Child loves candy

Wild Child, Dictator and I are still talking about the candy eating. The problem was that I’d be short on calories by 100-200 calories and not hit my minimum of 1200. A snack after dinner is new territory for this all or nothing dieter. My history of managing after dinner snacks has been spotty at best. Somehow a simple snack could set off cravings as astrometric proportions. Some snacks work like baked apples, cheese and lean protein. I am trying to meet my macros but 1200 calories just doesn’t leave much room for extras.

So here is the discussion and how we worked together for a happy plan to solve to these issues.

First, it was important to acknowledge to WC, that sometimes, like Halloween, we can eat the planned small portion and stop. This shifted the problem off her back and back onto the 3 of us.

We have agreed to put candy aside for the time being. Healthy foods is our priority since our calorie limit is so low. It is also a priority to meet our 1200 calorie minimum.

This sounds like a lawyer’s meeting but one by one we talked about our needs, wants desires and commitment to a resolution.

Dictator reminded us that baked apples always work. WC reminded us that baked apples get boring after awhile. The moderator suggested we need more choices. Dictator agreed to help by making a list of healthy options after all research and list making are her gifts.

The list provided us with healthy, low calorie options that are relatively low sugar so they won’t set off cravings.

Yogurt covered freeze dried fruit, low calorie protein bars and Cranberry Orange Veggie Muffins from Garden Lites Veggies Made Great made the list for this week. They will be evaluated by us all to see if they fulfill our requirements. We will continue to give these new snack options a trial run until we have a reasonable list.

Discussions and negotiating are working. We talk until we find a way to satisfy everyone’s wants and needs. The goal is to create comfort and happiness for us all.

It’s an adventure but a happy one. I officially hit the 50 lb. loss this week. My Journey is consistently yielding a 1-2 pound loss each week and the best news is that I’m happy, satisfied and confident going forward.
