Just a pleasant stroll.

Welcome to my new blogspot post. Today’s treat are photos of my favorite place to walk.

Beautiful scenery for a walk.

Come take a walk with us. DH and Dusty our 6 yr old schnauzer are with me enjoying paradise.

This is San Diego bay which is 20 min. from my home.

These images were taken from Coronado Ca population 26,000. Coronado is a man made island and is home to the North Island Naval Air Station. This is where naval aviation began.

The Hotel Del Coronado opened in February 1888. The DEL as locals call it, debuted as an architectural masterpiece, acclaimed for its spectacular seaside setting and world-famous weather. The Del is located on the ocean side of the island. It has a long and glorious history. It was the setting for the movie Some Like it Hot. DD celebrated her 6th birthday at the hotel. We stayed there one Weekend in lieu of a vacation that year.

On my walk, I saw everything you see here. Everything blooms and the plants foliage is greener in the sea air.

Interesting gateway.

This one is very unique with a stunning thatched roof backs up to the bay.

Coronado was developed in 1910. Many of small bungalow homes are still standing.

Many homes have been renovated and enlarged. No building can be taller than The Hotel del Coronado.

Many homes have beautiful architectural touches.

This is the Islanders favorite mode of transportation. It’s an electric surrey.  Boy would Dusty and the grandkids love a ride in that.

We walking the dogs plural because we invite DD’s dog Henry along for the fun.
It’s sunny with a slight breeze. We stopped to chat with a lady tending her garden.

Now you may want to call my 1 hour walk exercise but it felt like a mini vacation to me. Getting fit by taking an enjoyable walk is just too pleasant to call exercise.

I feel so blessed to be able to go there, see the beauty and fill my soul with joy. We need to be active and move more but this is like being a tourist on vacation.

  1. What a beautiful blog!! I've only visited San Diego once, and that some 36 years ago, in February -- but I thought it was a most beautiful place then too. The freesia were in bloom and the climate was just so pleasant!! And of course Henry is an excellent name for a dog!!

  4. Thank you for posing this blog! I lived in San Diego area for about 25 years. I was stationed on Coronado and loved it. Also stationed at Pt. Loma onboard The USS McKee , a subtender, great experience. Nice pictures!!
